why Christians do not listen to the word of Jesus?. We call ourselves Christians but do not obey the words of Christ. Jesus said love your enemy, do not do evil for evil. But we do not love our enemies and do evil for evil, sometimes more evil than what we received. Jesus said love your neighbor , but we don't love even brothers and sisters in Christ. We like to put bumper stickers that proclaims Jesus' love, but as soon as some one cuts us of we curse the person.We like to wear crosses around our neck, but our behavior is contrary to the glory of Jesus and instead brings shame to His name. Jesus asked us to invite poor people who cannot repay us to dinner, but we like invite rich and respectable people only to our houses. ( Luke 14: 12-14.) Jesus said be humble , do not seek the important place.(Luke 14: 8-11). But we seek importance and a place of honor.
Jesus said do not do your charitable deeds before men.( Matthew 6:1-2). But we Christians trumpet what we do to the whole world.
Jesus said "when you pray do not be like the hypocrites". Matthew 5:5-8. In our prayers we repeat the same words over and over again, also give instructions and information to all knowing God about what we did and how good we are, Why?.
Jesus said forgive others, so our sins will be forgiven. But we hold our grudges and unforgiveness and expect God to bless us and answer our prayers immediately.(Matthew 6:14-15)
Jesus said do not serve the world and God. We do the same exact thing every day by trying to please God and man. Joshua 24:15 - "And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the river or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".
JAMES 1:8 says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Jesus said do not worry about things of the world. But we worry about everything constantly. This only shows that we do not really trust in God to take care of our problems.
We sing " surrender all", " I give my self away and Take my life on Sundays, sway gently with closed eyes, raised hands and say praise the Lord many times, but from Monday to Saturday live like devil and there is no difference between us and the unbelievers.
We celebrate Christmas like pagans. We go to church dressed in fancy new cloths as a routine and rush back home to cook fancy special food and open the presents. In the western world unless the Christmas falls on a Sunday there will not be a church service.We spend more time on finding presents for the people we don't even like, with the money we do not have and decorating our houses and the Christmas tree rather than meditate on the purpose of Jesus' birth.Why?.
Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him," no man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
The most important instruction from God's word missed by the so called Christ followers is the command to pray for the leaders of their country. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.
Christians instead of praying for the leaders,In public curse the leaders of the country and write vile things in the social media. This is a shame and disgrace to our God, who gave His life for us. Christians do not understand that God is the one who raise men to be kings and He is the one who brings them down. God uses even the bad and unbelieving kings and leaders to fulfill His purpose. Daniel 4 :17-This decision is by the decree of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He will, and sets over it the lowest of men. Christians should not blindly oppose because the person is not from your race or blindly support because the person is from your race. Whether you like the person in authority or don't like the person in authority should respect that person because God has allowed them to be there, so pray for them.
