Our Beliefs, Our Faith, Our Words and Our Actions !
Our Faith and Our Living
We who call ourselves as followers of Christ should examine ourselves each day. The bible says in 1 John 2:6 This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. First let us examine what we believe as Christ followers. There are many differences between denominations, but to be called a follower of Christ we must believe certain basic fundamental truths. We must believe that every human born is a sinner and needs a savior. Jesus Christ was chosen before the foundations of the world to redeem us. Jesus Christ, who is Part of the Trinity, God Himself came as a human, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life. He was mocked, scourged, and was crucified on the cross, buried and on the third day rose from the dead and went to heaven to sit on the right hand of the Father. He is coming back to earth to judge the living and the dead. The other truths Christ followers must believe are 1. Jesus is the only way to the Father. 2) Bible is the word of God. 3) We cannot be saved by our works and can be only saved by grace through faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Christ Followers should live and reflect Christ to the world. Jesus said in Mathew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. How can we show God’s light to the world? Our works can show the world that we are Christ followers. Our works cannot get us saved, but we are saved by Christ’s grace. Our work should be a reflection of our faith and belief. James 1:22 do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 2: 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. Matt: 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Our actions should be different from the non-believers; otherwise why should they believe in what you proclaim? Are WE an example of Christ at OUR work place? Are WE on time for work, and do WE DO OUR work with all OUR heart and all OUR mind as though WE are serving Christ? Or ARE WE complaining and murmuring like the unbelievers and pretend to work ONLY when someone watches us? Are we diligent in our work and not waste time doing our personal business? Have we taken anything from work for our personal use?
Jesus said forgive your enemies. We have a hard time forgiving even our friends. Remember the story of a servant who was forgiven a lot by the king. When he met the man who owed him a little, he did not forgive the man. Matt 18: 23-35. We are like that man, who was forgiven of much and so we are to forgive people who trespass against us.
We cannot act religious and holy on Sunday at church and live like the world from Monday to Saturday. We are the temple of God and the Holy Spirit lives in us.
Western Christianity no longer holds God’s word as absolute truth and is compromising with the world in the name of love and grace. Church also wants to be politically correct and says the word of God should be interpreted differently to coincide to the culture of the 21st century. God never changes and so the word of God and its meaning never changes.
