Luke 11:24-29
When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, I will return to my house from which I came. And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
The bible, which is the word of God says that we are the temple of God 1 Corinthians 3:16-17., 1 Corinthians 6:18, 2 Corinthians 6:16< Ephesians 4:13.
We are created to do good works. How is our temple? Before we were saved from our sins, before we believed in Jesus Christ and all that He has done to save us, our temple or body was unclean and with with the evil spirit, it could have been a spirit of pride, spirit of jealousy, spirit of greed, spirit of covetousness, spirit of adultery, spirit of murder, spirit of lies, or a spirit of unbelief. Whatever it may be, our body was cleaned , when we believed in Jesus Christ. After our body was cleaned and the evil spirit is cast out, it is important to fill the clean and empty house with the Holy Spirit who was promised by Jesus and the word of God. After we are born again , we need to grow in faith. How do we grow in faith? The word of God says in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If our temple is clean but empty is an invitation to the enemy to take back his position.
The word of God says the spirit after seeing that the house is clean and empty , went and brought with him seven more spirits more evil and entered the temple. Now the condition of that man is many time worse that his previous condition.
Once we accept Christ, we cannot rest in our laurels. We have to surrender completely all aspects of life to Christ. We cannot look back. Jesus said in Luke 9:62 But Jesus said to him, " No man ,having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." We cannot serve the world and God. Matthew 6:24 says " No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. you cannot serve God and mammon. We are given two choices life or death, narrow way to live or broad way to death by God. He has given us the freedom to choose. If we chose Jesus Christ as our savior then we must keep His commandments. John 14:15. Fill your mind with the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit be your teacher, leader and the one who corrects you when you stray. Do not leave a clean and empty house.
